AL Herp Radio

During the summer of 2010, I decided to create my own reptile-themed program on BlogtalkRadio.com. At the time, there were already a handful of like-minded shows available, but I wanted something different. The one that started it all, Reptile Radio, which began in 2007, mostly focused on ball pythons and the mainstream morph market. Another popular one, Urban Jungle Radio, was more of a mixed bag, but soon progressed into more conservation issues, which was okay, but not something I wanted to listen to all the time.

So I decided to put together my own show that was generalized and focuses more on community-based issues, and was not so caught up with the more “famous” names in the reptile industry. I wanted to have more small-time hobbyists like myself on the show. So after a few name changes, Alabama Herp Radio was born.

Coincidentally, another online buddy of mine helped start up a show about the same time called Herpin’ Time Radio. This show is hosted by my friend Justin Guyer and J.D. Hartzel. The shows ended up being somewhat similar, but we don’t mind. We all have a mutual respect for one another and do our best not to schedule the live shows on top of someone else’s.

Both shows can be found as podcasts on iTunes. I encourage you to subscribe to both.

Thanks for listening,

Yeah, I tried to listen to UJR but I did not like their tone. It annoyed me and they sounded like typical immature radio DJ’s. However, I really like listening to Herpin’ Time Radio, your show, and Reptile Radio. I feel like these shows are varied enough in subject to coexist. I really caught up on these shows last semester when I had 3 hour long art classes. I used to pop in my headphones and draw away… Makes me wish I had more art classes! I have all these classes I have to pay attention to now. Tch.
